Jaguar – “gorgeous” advert 2006
In basic terms I think the message of this advert is that you buy this car and you’ll feel better and everything about you will be better, it’ll make you “gorgeous”. This advert plays on people’s insecurities, showing how having this product will improve your life, having this luxury will make everything about your life better and easier. Throughout the advert the narrator explains what “gorgeous” gets you and helps you with. There are shots of the car and different women who are good looking throughout the advert, and there’s that contrast between the car and beautiful women, so if a woman was to buy the car it could suggest that you are beautiful for buying this car and the car will make you look more better when it comes to looks, but if a man was to buy the car you could argue that buying the car and owning is like being in a relationship with a beautiful woman and it could help you achieve being in a relationship with a beautiful woman. It is teaching us that owning a luxury car will upgrade your life and be better than everyone else.
